| To Everyone who matters to me and whoever else that reads this:
Because this is something that happens every day to women all over the world, I wanted to share a frightening encounter that I experienced over the weekend. I want to let people know that it could happen to you and it could happen to someone you care about.
Saturday night I was attacked. It doesn't bother me to talk about it because I know that saying something could potentially help someone else.
I was grabbed from behind as I walked to my car during the early hours of the morning, alone. It wasn't the wisest choice on my part, but then again, I never thought it would happen to me. I became very frightened and my instincts told me to protect myself, so I punched and kicked. The person fell to the ground and I ran like hell to my car. It honestly felt like a dream, the kind that you're just running and running yet you can't get away fast enough. Although he appeared not to be following me, I just kept running. I tripped over a curb and busted my knee open. I was scared and bleeding all over. The lock on my car door wouldn't turn (which it does from time to time and it takes some time to 'jimmy' it unlocked) so I ran to the door of the bar that I work at, unlocked it, locked it behind me and hid in the office. I made a number of phone calls and sent lots of text messages that apparently didn't make sense because I couldn't see what I was typing. I was crying hysterically. Eventually a friend called me back and I was still freaking out.
I like to think of myself as a strong and independent person. It could have been worse that night, but I'm here sharing this story. I want all of you to remind those women in your lives to be safe when they have to go somewhere alone. Talk on their cell phones, carry mase, keep their keys in their hands in case they have to use them as a weapon, and to learn the vital pressure points that could diffuse an attacker. Anything can happen at any time and yes, IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU! Please be cautious and protect yourself.
For those of you who have read through this entirely, Thank You and please pass on this information. It could save someone's life, especially someone that you care about.

| Ok, here's the deal people. I've decided that I'm not going to be using Xanga much anymore. I'll keep it around to check other people's updates, but as for me, I will not be using it to update much anymore. I've found an online community that leaves me plenty of the comment love that I crave, comment love that I obviously don't get here.
